PLEDJ Leadership and Resilience Award – Montreal

PLEDJ is pleased to launch the Leadership and Resilience Award, a scholarship designed to support refugees in Montreal in pursuing their educational and professional aspirations.

This award reflects our commitment to advancing education, leadership, and community-driven change by reducing barriers to access for individuals with lived experience of displacement.

Scholarship Details

  • Total value: $6,000 CAD

  • Number of awards: One award of $6,000 or up to two awards of $3,000

  • Location: Montreal

  • Deadline: April 30, 2026

Who Can Apply

You are eligible to apply if you:

  • Have lived experience of forced displacement, including if you currently hold or have previously held refugee or protected person status in Canada

  • Currently live in the Montreal area

  • Are accepted to or enrolled in a post-secondary institution or vocational training program (e.g., university, CEGEP, vocational training)

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to your education, community, and/or leadership

  • Have financial need

What the Scholarship Supports

The award is intended to support education-related expenses, including:

  • Tuition fees

  • Books and learning materials

  • Living expenses related to your studies

How to Apply

Please submit the following:

  • Completed application form

  • Proof of refugee or protected person status

  • Proof of acceptance or enrollment in a program

  • A personal statement (max. 500 words) describing:

    • Your educational goals

    • Your community involvement or leadership experience

    • How this scholarship will support your journey

  • One (1) reference (academic, professional, or community-based)

Applications must be submitted by April 30, 2026

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee. Recipients will be chosen based on:

  • Educational goals and motivation

  • Community engagement and leadership potential

  • Financial need

All applications will be reviewed through a fair and transparent process.

  • Only selected applicants will be contacted

  • PLEDJ reserves the right not to award the scholarship if no application meets the criteria

  • Recipients may be asked to provide proof of enrollment and a brief update during their studies
