As the visionary founder of PLEDJ, she has spearheaded initiatives like the Solidarity Dialogues, which train leaders to facilitate open, honest and brave conversations among groups experiencing deep-rooted, identity-based conflicts, especially under the challenges of censorship and polarization. These dialogues have become essential platforms for building empathy, mutual understanding, and trust among communities who might otherwise remain divided. This year alone, the Solidarity Dialogues will reach over 250 community members across Montréal, building bridges across divides and reinforcing our collective strength and resilience.
The King Charles III Coronation Medal is awarded to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to Canadian communities. Dr. Elsana Alh’jooj's work exemplifies this mission, as she continues to bridge divides between marginalized communities and decision makers, creating pathways for sustainable social change and building communities where hate and racism have no place.
