Director of Operations
Hanya Omar
My Story
Hanya Omar is a founding member of PLEDJ and played a central role in establishing the organization. She currently oversees programs and organizational operations, working closely with the Executive Director to design initiatives, guide strategic development, and ensure effective implementation. Hanya also leads PLEDJ’s finance, governance, administration, and staff management functions.
Hanya brings nearly a decade of experience in nonprofit management, strategic planning, and project development with both local communities and international partners. Her work focuses on international community development, conflict resolution, and the vernacularization of global human rights discourses into locally relevant practice.
Hanya holds a BA in Political Science and Psychology from McGill University, and an MA in International Relations and International Law from the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).
Before PLEDJ, she was the Fellowship Coordinator and Program Administrator at the International Community Action Network at McGill University. There, she coordinated an international fellowship program for emerging leaders from Palestine, Jordan, Israel, and Syria, and led communications and partnership development with community, academic and governmental partners in the Middle East and Canada.
