Noura Nasser
My Story
Noura Nasser is a grant writer at PLEDJ. She obtained a Master of Arts in Social Sciences from Concordia University and Master of Arts in Environmental Security and Peace from the UN-mandated University for Peace.
In September 2026, Noura will be starting her PhD at McGill University in social work. Her extensive experience in community-based and participatory action research informs her current resource development role.
Noura’s PhD research seeks to address a critical gap in understanding the urban experiences of migrant workers in Lebanon, both live-in and live-out.
Her project examines the urban social worlds of migrant domestic workers through the lens of urban food spaces, exploring how they navigate and reshape the city. It focuses on how these workers improvise, inhabit, and work within these spaces as forms of resistance and as strategies to challenge the social hierarchies they encounter in everyday life.
Through her grant writing and pursuit of funding opportunities at PLEDJ, Noura also works to strengthen organizational sustainability, ensuring that its projects and programs continue to grow and secure long-term support.
